The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, is set to appear on the Government Accountability Series on Monday October 5, to account for key initiatives and policies being implemented by his Ministry.
The engagement will focus on a number of issues of public interest, including government’s sanitation and waste management initiatives, the Aayalolo contra-flow arrangement, and the utilisation of funds transferred to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Mr Ayariga is expected to respond to questions on the implementation and impact of the various initiatives introduced under his Ministry, as well as concerns surrounding the management of sanitation and waste across the country.
The Minister will also provide updates on the Aayalolo contra-flow arrangement, which forms part of efforts to improve public transportation and ease traffic congestion on selected routes.
Another key issue expected to feature prominently during the engagement is the use of funds transferred to District Assemblies, with Mr Ayariga expected to explain how the resources are being utilised to support development at the local level.
The Government Accountability Series is intended to provide an avenue for government officials to engage the public, explain government programmes and respond to questions on the implementation of policies.
The appearance by the Local Government Minister is expected to offer the public an opportunity to seek clarification on issues relating to sanitation, local government financing, transportation and other matters under his Ministry.
