Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has opened a new polyclinic at Ayigya in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The facility was constructed with support from Qatar Charity Ghana following efforts by the Interior Minister to secure the project for residents of the area.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Muntaka said he readily supported the request from the Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive to help secure a health facility for Ayigya.
He said the decision was based on the need for political leaders to work together to address the development needs of communities regardless of constituency boundaries.
“The success of Ayigya is the success of Asawase and the success of Asanteman is the success of Ghana,” he said.
The Minister said the project demonstrates the importance of collaboration between political leaders, development partners and local authorities in delivering essential services to communities.
The newly launched polyclinic is expected to improve access to healthcare for residents of Ayigya and surrounding communities in the Oforikrom Municipality.
Mr Muntaka expressed appreciation to Qatar Charity Ghana for its support towards the construction of the facility and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting development initiatives that benefit communities beyond his constituency.
