The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has launched its Pink October Campaign to raise awareness about breast and prostate cancers and promote early screening, diagnosis and treatment.
The campaign, held under the theme “Every Story Is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” brought together health experts, cancer survivors, management and staff of the NPA, as well as representatives from sister agencies.
The event featured expert presentations and personal accounts from cancer survivors, with speakers emphasising the importance of early detection in improving outcomes for people diagnosed with cancer.
Speaking at the launch, NPA Chief Executive Officer, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, said sustained public education and early detection were critical to reducing the impact of cancer.
He urged individuals and institutions to take collective responsibility for promoting cancer awareness and helping people make informed decisions about their health.
Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, Dr Sheila Addo, commended management for supporting the initiative and encouraged staff to actively participate in the campaign.
She also called for conversations and awareness efforts around cancer to continue beyond the month of October.
Chairperson of the event and Deputy Government Spokesperson, Hajia Shamima Muslim, highlighted the challenges faced by cancer survivors and called for greater collaboration among stakeholders to combat the disease.
The NPA said the campaign forms part of its efforts to promote health awareness and encourage individuals to prioritise regular screening and early detection.
