The Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company Limited (CMC), Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, has clarified that he is not the individual identified as “Wisdom Dogbey” reportedly declared wanted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
In a statement, Mr Dogbey said he became aware of media reports concerning an individual bearing the name “Wisdom Dogbey” in connection with alleged offences of defrauding by false pretences and money laundering.
He stressed that the reports do not concern him and that he is Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, Managing Director of CMC.
Mr Dogbey said the use of the name “Wisdom Dogbey” in headlines without sufficient identification could create confusion and lead to an unintended association with the reported case.
“I am Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC), and the reports in question do not concern me,” he stated.
He urged media organisations, digital platforms and members of the public to verify identities carefully before attributing reports involving allegations of criminal conduct to individuals.
Mr Dogbey said he remained focused on his responsibilities at CMC and efforts to strengthen Ghana’s position in the global cocoa trade.
He also expressed appreciation to individuals who had contacted him out of concern and sought clarification regarding the reports.
