The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all aspirants campaigning in the Greater Accra Region to temporarily suspend their campaign activities to mobilise support for the party’s planned “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 4, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said the directive was sanctioned by its National Steering Committee.
According to the statement, all aspirants in Greater Accra are expected to halt their campaign activities on August 5 and 6 to participate fully in preparations for the demonstration.
The party also instructed Regional, Constituency and Polling Station Executives across the region to work together to ensure a massive turnout for the protest.
The “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 6, beginning at 5:00 a.m., with participants expected to assemble at the premises of the Supreme Court in Accra.
The NPP appealed to party members, supporters and all participants to conduct themselves peacefully, remain disciplined and comply with the law throughout the demonstration.
