President John Dramani Mahama has accepted the resignation of Dr Bossman Asare, a Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Corporate Affairs. The resignation is set to take effect on 31 July 2026.
Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed the resignation at a press briefing at the Presidency.
According to the Minister, Dr Asare’s decision to step down, communicated via an official letter to the President, is to facilitate his return to academia at the University of Ghana.
In a related development, the Presidency has announced that Mr Samuel Tettey, also a Deputy Chairperson of the EC in charge of Operations, has reached the mandatory retirement age.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu informed the presidential press corps that President Mahama has accordingly nominated a successor to replace Mr Tettey.
The President expressed his appreciation to both Dr Asare and Mr Tettey for their dedicated service to the nation and their contributions to Ghana’s democratic processes.
